A model to pressure-test a placement, not a guarantee. Permanent editorial links compound over time, so a link that pays back in months keeps returning value long after. Indexed is our definition of done.

Why model link ROI before you buy?

Most SaaS founders approve a link-building budget on gut feel, then spend the next quarter unsure whether it worked. That is backwards. Links are an investment with a measurable return, and you can sketch that return before the first order lands.

The math is not complicated. A new backlink raises the authority of the pages it points to, those pages climb for their target keywords, higher rankings capture a bigger share of search clicks, and a fraction of that new traffic converts into trials and paid accounts. Each step has a rough industry benchmark you can lean on. The point of this tool is to chain those benchmarks together so you get a defensible range, not a fantasy number.

Use it the way you would use a sales forecast: directional, conservative, and good enough to decide whether a campaign clears your payback bar. When you are ready to go deeper on attribution, our guide to measuring link building ROI for SaaS walks through the full model, and tracking backlink organic traffic in GA4 and GSC shows how to prove the lift after the links go live.

How the calculator works

01

Enter your campaign inputs

Set the number of links you plan to buy, the DR range of the sites you are targeting, your average price per link, and the monthly value of a converted customer. Sensible defaults are pre-filled so you can start in seconds.

02

We model the traffic lift

The tool estimates the ranking and organic-traffic gain those links could earn, weighting higher-DR, real-traffic placements more heavily because that is where authority actually transfers.

03

We translate traffic into revenue

Applying your conversion rate and customer value, the calculator turns the traffic estimate into a monthly and annual revenue range, plus a simple payback period against your spend.

04

Save and refine your scenario

Create a free account to save scenarios, export the numbers for your budget deck, and compare a cautious case against an aggressive one before you commit a wallet balance.

What makes this estimate trustworthy

No vanity inputs, no inflated multipliers. The model leans on published benchmarks and treats real traffic as the thing that matters.

Built on real benchmarks

Click-through-rate and ranking assumptions are grounded in published search data, not made up. We show you the range, not a single hero number you cannot defend.

DR and traffic aware

A link from a high-DR site with real organic traffic is modeled very differently from a thin one. The tool rewards quality the way Google does.

Conservative by default

We err low so the number survives scrutiny in a board meeting. Better to beat a cautious forecast than to miss an optimistic one.

Tied to your economics

Plug in your own conversion rate and customer value and the output reflects your business, not a generic SaaS average.

The benchmarks behind the model

#1 ≈ 27.6%

Average organic CTR for the top Google result, per [Backlinko's click-through-rate study](https://backlinko.com/google-ctr-stats). Rankings gains compound on traffic fast.

9.28%

Average CTR for position one across Google's search results in [Advanced Web Ranking's CTR data](https://www.advancedwebranking.com/ctrstudy/), used to temper the high-end estimate.

3.3x

The number-one result earns roughly 3.3x the clicks of position three, per [Backlinko](https://backlinko.com/google-ctr-stats), which is why ranking movement matters more than raw link count.

30 days

Every link you buy on Saaslinks carries a [30-day indexation guarantee](/blog/30-day-indexation-guarantee-explained), so the links you model are links that actually count.

What the calculator cannot tell you

An estimate is a starting line, not a promise. A few honest caveats so you use the output well:

  • Links are not the only ranking factor. Your on-page SEO, content depth, and site speed all gate how much a link can lift you. If your target page is thin, no amount of authority rescues it.
  • Lift takes time. New links rarely move rankings overnight. Expect a ramp over weeks to a few months as pages get re-crawled and re-evaluated. Our piece on how many backlinks a SaaS site needs sets realistic expectations.
  • Quality beats quantity, always. Twenty cheap links can return less than five strong ones. If you are weighing the trade-off, read cheap backlinks vs quality backlinks before you set your price input.

Treat the number as a budgeting aid. Once a campaign is live, measure the actual lift in GA4 and Search Console rather than trusting the forecast forever.
